As the days grew shorter and shorter, it became more apparent that no
one had any answers.  An eerie silence prevailed whenever I ventured 
outdoors.  Motor vehicles were banned in some vain attempt to save the 
planet.  Even the smell of the outdoors changed.  No longer did fresh 
air greet me at the door, instead a foul, dank odor invaded my clothes 
and my senses.  It seeped under the door of the rectory and reminded me 
of what awaited us all.  Still I wanted to believe in deliverance, but 
with each passing day my faith was being sapped from me, slowly 
suffocated by the suffering that surrounded me. 

My time is nearly over.  Soon I will have my answers, like so many that
have gone before me.  All I can do now is sit and reflect on what could 
have been done, what should have been done long before this began.  I 
wonder if my sister Betty who passed over yesterday has her answers 
yet, if my old friend David who went the day before, has his?  At least 
they no longer suffer the stench of death that prevails; the silence or 
the occasional strangled moan of the few of us that they have left 
behind. 

I fear I can write little more now; my strength is failing me.  I can no
longer think to write.  I can no longer remember who or where I am for 
more than a short time.  So little oxygen, so many people.  One answer 
remains unanswered for me though; is this the end, or a new beginning?
