Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story Brad feels a knot growing in his stomach. The spirit of the conversation reveals more and more that she no longer has any feelings for him. He wonders if this was even real or if it was just one big ruse for her to hurt him again. "Just.....be good." he says, hugging her one last time. As he is backing up his car, a couple of guys come out of the back of the restaurant, one of which Shana gives a suggestive hug. He turns his head quickly and drives off. The monotony of the meeting leaves Brad feeling lost and confused. There was no last kiss. No pleading to renew their relationship. Their entire existence with one another was filled with excitement, action, passion. It didn't seem fitting for it to culminate in such a dull and uninteresting way. He wanted a last kiss. He wanted to try and fight her off as she pleaded with him to get back together with her. He wanted to eventually give in, even though he knew that it could not possibly work between them. He said goodbye, but he wasn't ready to. He was never ready. He still loves her. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he reluctantly concedes that they're both better off. She's moving on and he should too. He looks on as he passes the turn to her old home, a turn he'd taken hundreds of times. Sweet Shana Bleu, his high school sweetheart. Never more. He remembers a dream he had shortly after he ended it with her. In the dream, he comes to a fork in a road. One way leads to Shana's old home; he has no idea where the other goes. He hesitates for several minutes, but takes it anyway. He remembers awakening, feeling just as lost then as he does now. Tweet
