had to rip my shirt apart and wrap tight around my cuts to suppress the
bleeding. I have determined that the world hates me, everything has
tried to kill me, I wouldn't be surprised if a tree fell on me right
now.

I could see the end of this dungeon up ahead, so I started to run. The
exit grew bigger and bigger as I got closer, and I could see a faint
glow in the distance. I reached the end to come to an edge of a cliff,
I looked down to see a small camp nestled down with a fire in the
middle to fight back the darkness of the night sky. I tried to see who
the people around the fire were, hoping that maybe they wouldn't try to
kill me. Hoping has seemed to be the only thing that has kept me going
in this war. I started to climb down the side of the cliff, and
stepping onto little ledges, from time to time my legs would give out
due to the pain from before and I would have to catch myself with my
sore arms. I slid to the ground, and hide behind another tree, I'm
getting sick of trees I thought to myself. I crept up behind a bush to
get a better look at the men near the fire to get a look at their
faces. They were refugees, thank goodness I found some! I stood up and
started to approach the circle of people. I stepped on a twig and it
made a loud snap startling the people around the fire, They all reached
down and grabbed there guns and aimed towards me. Doing the only thing
I could I swung my arms up and dropped to my butt and yelled “NO no
don't shoot I'm not one of them!” They lowered there guns seeing I was
helpless and approached me. “hello” said the closet one with a deep
voice as he reached his hand towards me helping me up “forgive us for
that, you never know when those guys will turn out trying to kill us”
“I understand” I replied looking into the mans eyes reveling a tall
black man with scares on his face. “are you guys refugees from the
village along the lake?” “No, there were no survivors from that
village, those men butchered them all, never stood a chance” “I was
there when it happened! I was in a building and flung out into the lake
from an explosion, I woke up the next day in the meadow across the lake
seeing the village rubble” “My men and I scoured the village for
survivors and found nothing, not even food and water, Those men burned
everything. Imperials are scum.” He lead me to the circle with the
other men and had me sit, one of his men brought fresh clothes out for
me to adorn and a thick coat to keep me warm. One brought a hot cup of
soup. “thank you so much for the hospitality, I wish I could do
something in return” I sipped the soup and felt the warmed surround my
body inside and out. I could feel the tight embrace of warmth once
again. One of the other soldiers brought over a first aid to tend to my
wounds.

Hours have passed since they fixed me up and after I put my clothes on.
We sat and talked about the war and were this war was going. “So many
people have died from these imperials, when is this all going to stop”
muttered Darion the tall black man with the scars on his face looking
down at the ground. He looked over at me and said “but there is always
hope, that one day, this war will end.” “I wish the same, I just want
what I had back” I looked at the ground and fought back tears and
pushed back images in my head of my family and friends. “I have lost so
much” “I remember the first attack from the Imperials, The city of New
Trolipta was destroyed” Mumbled Darion, I looked at him and then back
down to the ground and had to fight back tears again. “yea...I remember
too” “Nobody saw it coming, I was at the store when it happened, I felt
a terrible rumble and looked outside and a building was collapsing.
Everyone was screaming in terror, I looked up into the sky and saw
great balls of fire raining down onto the city unleashing chaos upon
the massive city. Explosions and fire, people dying, screaming and
crying. Then the Imperials were tearing down the streets with massive
gun fire. Ripping everyone apart, I managed to hide in an ally way and
get back to my house. On my front steps I looked over my shoulder and
saw everything to burning. I went inside and grabbed my guns and ran
back outside. I turned left and ran up the street, people running all
over screaming I slipped past everyone. I noticed something in the
corner of my eye so I had to stop and stare, One guy, was running out
of a burning building with somebody in his arms, he fell to his knees
crying. I guessed it was a loved one he screamed up into the sky. He
drew his rifle he had on his back and swung around and in a terrible
rage he gunned down an entire squad of Imperials that were running
around the corner screaming the whole time. I started to run towards
this man, but he ran a different way. So I turned back around and took
off. A few hours later, I was sitting under a burnt down house canopy
while it was pouring. Four Imperials were walking into few, startled I
dropped to my stomach and hid in the shade, they were getting closer
and closer, The one in the back jumped and pointed at me laying and the
ground, fear screamed through my body and I felt like I was on fire.
Just then his had exploded with blood and they all turned and dropped
like flies, BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, They all fell to the ground in a mist
of blood, I looked in a window of a building and I saw that guy that I
saw earlier in the window with a sniper rifle. I dared not get up, he
didn't see me, I didn't know if he would kill me so I just laid there.
Just then it hit me, That's the guy they have been talking about on
the radio! I had a radio of an imperial next to me and I could hear
them talking about some shadow man killing Imperials, They said
something about how they captured the guys wife and daughter trying to
draw him out. Hours later I was walking down the street and the radio
goes off again “that Shadow man just killed 6 more, I am getting sick
of this, he is coming for his wife and daughter” “cant we just kill
them? Spread there guts across the road?” “NO you idiot!, we gotta'
draw this man out so we can kill him before he kills us all!” “Because
its worked so far huh?!” “shut up and continue patrolling!” The voices
stopped . Poor guy I thought to myself. “NOOOO! Put her down!” I heard
a terrifying scream of agony behind me down the road. I spun around to
take a look at what it was. It was an Imperial soldier holding a woman
in his arms and a gun to her head. “put your hands up and drop your
gun! Or I will blow her head off!” the soldier screamed. I could see
tears fall from the Shadow mans face. I was hiding behind a dumpster so
I could get a good clear view. nobody knew I was there. “baby, don't !
just shoot! don't worry about me! Shoot him and run!” The woman
screamed to him. “No, I cant, I cant lose you” He yelled back. Slowly
lowering his arms. “Do what I say! NOW drop the weapon or she dies!”
The soldier screams “Alright Alright! Just push her aside and ill kick
my gun away!” The shadow man Yells back at the soldier “Ok, now slowly
drop it” He slowly set his gun on the ground and kicked it aside out of
reach. “there, now let her go, just don't hurt her! Take me instead!
I'm begging you!” “Ok, sounds good to me” He pushed the woman with a
violent shove away sending her stumbling. “on second thought” he raises
his gun and pops a bullet in her leg sending her down to the ground.
“NOO!!!” The shadow man lets out a yell and chargers at the soldier,
The soldier Smashed his gun across the shadow mans head and he crashed
to the ground. “Alright I got the guy, I'm bringing him in. What should
I do about the girl?” He speaks into his radio “take her too, and we
can kill her in front of him, then torture him, bring his daughter
maybe we can get this guy to spill some secrets?” the voice stopped on
the other end “Alright, On my way”. I got up and was about to run at
the man from behind, maybe I could stop him I thought but then, a bomb
exploded from the building next to me. Must have been delayed and it
sent me through a window. I woke up 6 hours later and then found this
site with 5 other guys.” He looked at me sitting there on the ground
wrapped up hugging my legs in front of the fire “they say the Shadow
man lives, that he escaped and is seeking vengeance on these Imperials,
they also say they murdered his wife and daughter in front of his eyes
and tortured to get info out of him but he wouldn't break, man, if only
I had his courage” Darion looked into the fire and put on a warm smile
“if its true, then he could help win this war” He looked back at me and
shrugged his shoulders “until then, we gotta fight, Using his stories
to bring up courage, to bring us hope, In that maybe one day this reign
of Chaos maybe be lifted from this Tired world” Darion stood up, and
looked into the horizon, and from my Point of view I saw in him, hope,
he truly believed that this Shadow man, me, could win this war. I stood
up beside him and said with a calm voice “I believe he is out there,
fighting, not only for survival but, for all those people out there
fighting as well. He brings security to the people that don't see a
future in this dark world, with him, we can all sleep silently at
night, knowing, that there is still hope, and he's not giving up.
