My experiences on public transport that have touched and changed my life. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story was someone with them who could see. From the back, it was not obvious, but as they turned, I realised that all four of them were holding canes. This middle aged lady then noticed too, as she was sitting behind them on a bench. She then walked over and asked them what buses they were taking. One blind woman replied "852, 855." The middle aged woman then said that she would help them look out for the buses. Those were the buses that I was going take. So, I decided to help them if I could. A lot of buses came together. When 852 came, it was too crowded for anyone to get on. So, everyone waited for 855. When the bus reached the stop, the four blind people held on to each other's arms in a straight line. Immediately, I thought that it was so sweet, the way they depended on each other for security. Despite the bus being so crowded, people in the front sideways seats, gave up all their seats to the blind people. And they were so cute, continuing their conversation in a crowded bus. I was just next to them. And as I didn't want to stand in the middle of them and block their conversation, I waited till I could move to the back. The middle aged lady did not get a seat, but she continued standing next to them, so she could help them get off later. Regardless of the weird looks she got from the people who got on because she didn't move in, she stood there so she could help the blind people when it was their stop. I got off first, so I did not get to see anything that happened after that. What I'm saying is that, no matter how bad your day has been, open your eyes up and feel, and you can always see small acts of kindness happening everywhere. "An act of kindness, no matter how small, makes a difference." Walking home, I was exhausted, but I still found it in me to be happy and smile. The dog that barks in friendly greeting, the neighbourhood people you walk past who smile at you. Don't you realise? The power of a single smile. It doesn't take much to smile, yet a single smile shows so much warmth. You don't have to specially go talk to someone, yet a single smile or wave can make someone's day. It's just a simple gesture, but it can make a difference. I felt so happy walking home today, because of all the kind acts I witnessed. Although I was feeling lousy in school, I told myself to breathe and calm down, and when I looked at things again, they weren't so bad after all. There was nothing to cry over, because I looked at things in another light. Someone's concern, or a simple smile, can make me feel better. And I can do the same for someone else. So, I hope you do it today, and tomorrow, and the day after too. (: Tweet
