Cast from Heaven, all for the love of a mortal. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story “Gabriel.” My name fell breathlessly from his lips, the lightened taper he had been holding falling from his hands to the stone floor. I held out my hand to him, gently pulling him closer to place a kiss upon his brow. “Fear no more Ezekiel....” I led him from the chapel, through the vestry to his small chamber beyond. Lilies covered the floor as I held him to me, my fingers curling through his tousled hair. My beautiful Ezekiel looked up at me and it was at that moment I knew I loved him with all my very being. He made as if to speak, gently resting my finger upon his lips to still his words. I kissed him and from the Heavens came a peal of thunder, the sky darkening. We lay upon lilies, our bodies entwined in the glow of dancing candlelight and the moment I gave him my love thunder crashed and lightening sliced through the angry sky, shattering the windows of the small church. Still I held Ezekiel to me, tears rolling down my burnished cheeks, my wings enfolding him as I awaited the inevitable. The Seraphim and Cherubim sung the praises of God and Creation as I was brought bound before HIS throne, falling to my knees. Michael with flaming sword in hand regarded me with eyes filled with sorrow. “Why Gabriel? Why my brother?” From the Source of Creation, thunder flashed and lightening crackled and for the first time in my existence I felt fear as the Heavenly Choir momentarily ceased to sing and the threads of Creation wavered. I lifted my head as I felt HIS will upon me, and it was all than I could bear as I threw back my head and screamed. “Forgive me Father.” Darkness: For a creature such as I who was born of the light and was one of the light it is a most terrible fate. “Why Father hast thou forsaken me? Is it so terrible to love a mortal?” The darkness closed in, crushing my angelic light, leaving me cold and alone, so alone. Ezekiel. Ezekiel. I was cast from Heaven, nine days in mortal terms it took to fall from Grace, for me a millennium. The pain I endured went way beyond what any mortal could ever understand as I fell. Oh but the pain of loosing my Beloved Ezekiel went far beyond. My beautiful lost Ezekiel. Barbed chains bound my wings, pulling and twisting them till they were nought but a mangled parody of their former glory. Tongues of fire lapped at my burnished skin, wicked talons tore at my golden hair. Blackened lips whispered of what was to come, an eternity of torment. One I sat on HIS left side and now I lie broken and bleeding waiting for Lucifer, then my true agony will begin. Ezekiel, I love you. I am sorry. Tweet
