he'd got himself a few rats for housemates. When there was no
response, she knocked again.

“I'm coming, I'm coming. You people have no patience,” a raspy voice
cursed from the other side, making her almost want to laugh. The poor
guy had no idea who was waiting at his door, but he was about to find
out.

The door opened a crack and an a bloodshot eye came into sight, he
squeaked, “Not you. No go away. I'm not open for business today.” At
this point, Echo shoved open the door, pushing him out of the way.

“Is that so? Well it's a good thing, cause I'm not here your business.
I need to know some important information and you're going to give it
to me,” her voice was cold as ice, full of deadly promise that she had
every intention of keeping should he fail her. The little man who
couldn't have been any taller than five feet scuttled to his couch and
hid behind it.

“Please don't bother me. I've told you everything I know. You know I
have,” he whimpered and then squeaked when he saw Mikey step through
the door. Mikey looked around, wrinkling his nose at the squalor that
the dealer lived in. Garbage was piled against the sides of the room,
pushed out of the way to make room for more garbage. The only light
came from a filthy overhead lamp that had so many bug bodies and dust
that it's light was muggy. The smell was atrocious but she'd been
prepared for it, it had been this bad the last time she was there.

“I need more information and you will tell me what I need to know or I
will kill you and you can rot amongst this filth. Maybe I'll just
leave you for dead, let the rats gnaw on you for the few hours you lay
in blind agony, knowing that nobody is coming to help you. Sound
good?” she had her blade out by now and was holding in her attack
stance, her eyes glistening with her lust for his blood.

He looked at her sword then at her and groaned, “I'll tell you anything
else. As much as I can. You know that.”

“Good,” she lowered the blade a fraction of an inch, but not much, “I
need to know where the head man's house for the Hyena's is. He'll
never know that you told and I'll let you live. Sounds like a good
situation for us all.”

“Oh no, anything else. I can't tell you that. I don't know,” his eyes
shifted slightly and she knew he was lying. A snarl of fury escaped
her and she leapt towards him, making him squeal, “Please, I don't
know. You know I would tell you. I tell you everything.”

“I don't believe you little man, but killing you would be a waste of
time. Watch yourself,” she hissed and beckoned for Mikey to accompany
her back out into the street. His face fell and she could tell, he was
very disappointed. Feinting a move towards the man hiding behind the
couch, he cried out again, she slipped out the door and walked
confidently away.

Mikey hurried to catch up with her, “What are you doing? If you don't
believe him, aren't you going to torture it out of him or something?”
She looked at him, shook her head, and turned down an alley, where he
continued in a panicked voice, “You've got to do something. Anything.”
At this point, she stopped, held a hand up to signal his silence then
peered around the wall.

“You're really thick as they come, aren't you? It's always with the
questions. I told you not to question me, I have a reason for
everything that I do,” she watched the dwarf stick his head out the
door, look around, then scurry out and head in the opposite direction
they had gone. Without a word, she struck out after him, slinking in
the shadows. For a moment, Mikey caught off guard, stood and watched
then he too followed.
