A Valentine thirsty for attention | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story actually inside, huddled warm in her bed. September even had been kind so as to ask her out on weekends. This was because the others were in a relationship term and September was happened to be single. She was the sweetest of them all, of all of Val's friends. She thought Val needed to go to places to meet new people, so she won't feel too alone anymore. Val had a good time. They went to the movies, had dinner, and met interesting new people at the club. At night when September went home, Val was all alone once again. This time it was worse. It seemed as though Time and Space had her trapped in a crammed petite box. When her room was actually quite spacious; modernly furnished, soft bouncy fluffy carpet, the soft jazz ambience. Val curled up in the corner and cried. Awake until dawn before her body gave in and let her doze off for a mere minutes. “Val, you must go out and see your friends. You won't feel as lonely that way,” September called one afternoon after Val stood out their weekend plan, three times. Val had enough of going to public places. Had enough of meeting people. Because afterwards, the void got more exaggerated. Afterwards, she felt more suppressed in her loneliness. A crowd would only made her fears worsen. But September had no idea. She was just being kind, being a good friend, being a Good Samaritan. It was Val who was being childish, selfish, and wicked to her friends who were only trying to help. It was Val who didn't want to be helped. Val knew. But she just didn't want to be choked up by the strangling void. It's better to stayed inside of her room and be safe from the void catalyst of the crowd. She would be isolated but won't be reminded on her ever growing loneliness after the whole parade had been over. September was naturally upset. She had had enough. Rambo and Les were right. Val was just being a spoiled brat. Whatever, she will bounce back on her own sooner or later. So September stopped asking Val out. In Val's point of view, September slowly drifted away. She passed by paddling a canoe, holding out a hand to reach out for her, but because Val took too long to decide whether she would swim towards September or wait for September to paddle closer, September left because she was in a hurry. She had life other than Val. Do you see those sharks? Their fins above water, circling around you. As though they're riding a merry-go-round with wooden horses smirking those evil smiles to you. They orbit you because you're the sun and the whole universe is obliged to you. You can feel the water move on your legs as huge tails and fins swishes around. You can barely feel your bleeding toes anymore. You are alone. You are all alone. And then the bottomless, endless, dark void engulfed you. Or was the ocean got to you first? Or was it the sharks that shredded you to pieces and swallowed you? The next day, peculiar news was on TV. Val, a young girl, found dead, drowning, and was eaten by sharks. You found yourself commented on the words, “that's odd”. Tweet
