A normally quiet and shy woman, Grendelle would wait centuries for the
next victim, if need be. She never made advance plans, it was so
depressing to hope, easier to put it out of her mind and just wait. So
many happy memories of endless torture sessions to go over in her mind.
Mentally laughing at the screams of her victims.

***

“Jeeze, what a walk.” Michael leaned against one of the spires, getting
his breath. Janet stood quietly, looking around as though curious.
She could take any shape desired, and Michael desired that of a
favorite Nimbo dancer on Anthraz III. Among her obvious skills were
those of sex with a human. Although producing no offspring, it was
highly satisfying to her companion. Of course, she never revealed if
or what her feelings were in the matter. That just wasn't in her
nature.

“We have to get something to eat soon, Janet Baby.” He reminded her.
“I wonder if there's anything in this building.” Michael started
walking again, around the building, finally finding a human sized door.
It opened easily, revealing a long corridor with doors along both
sides.

They entered. He opened the first door he saw and stepped back in
horror. The room was empty except for the walls being covered,
completely, with chained skeletons.

“I'll be damned!” He exclaimed, checking room after room. They were
all filled with humanoid skeletons, some piled up, others chained to
walls like in the first. Some of the rooms had them chained to tables
with torture instruments nearby. He tried two more floors and found
the same.

“Isn't there anyone alive around here?” He asked Janet, who just looked
on disinterested.

“I sense someone in the area.” She told him in a melodious voice, just
like that of her namesake on Anthraz III.

“Let's find them, huh. Maybe we can save them from whatever did this.”
He told her. Going to a window, he looked out into the sunset,
noticing a light in a window of another tower. It was about halfway up
the tall edifice. “Come on Janet, Baby. Let's check it out.”

They hurried to the tower with a lighted window. On the way, Michael
kept an eye on it and saw a shadow as someone looked out at them. It
was a lovely woman, and she waved them on. She looked to be smiling.

***

Grendelle was smiling, in anticipation, as she saw the two strangers.
She waved, giving them an evil grin. The woman stretched her long
limbs and headed for the door. She remembered an appropriate room to
use, on the third floor of the tower.

Going down to that floor, Grendelle checked the room out. It was a
little dusty but that was all right, no time to clean it. She figured
they would be tired from the trip across the plains. There was a soft
bed and even a kitchen with canned and frozen foods in the small
apartment. All the little comforts.

An entertainment center and, especially, a nice comfortable easy chair.
She sat down in the chair and bounced around in glee. Oh, how soft and
comfortable, she thought. Getting up, she walked over to another chair
nearby. Sitting down again, she caressed some hidden controls, a gleam
in her eye as she tested them out.

There was a snap, and cuffs came out of the first one, to encircle the
armrest.

“Too noisy.” She decided, getting up to oil them. Another button
brought a sharp spike through the seat. As she slowly pressed, the
spike extended, all the way to where the top of a head would be. Other
buttons sent waves of electricity, painful injections and injections to
alleviate pain. She didn't want them to die too quickly, anticipating
days of coming torture.

“Well, it's getting to that time.” She got up to meet them at the
landing, waiting in sight of the front door below.

Soon the door opened. A man stuck his head inside. He looked up and
saw a smiling Grendelle waving him upstairs.

“Am I glad to see you,” she shook hands with him, not knowing Janet's
status, “I've been waiting for years for someone to rescue me.” She
let tears come to her lovely green eyes as she pumped his hand wildly.
“Oh, so long.”

“What happened here, we found all those dead people in the other
building?” Michael asked, holding her shaking body steady. “What
killed them, and is it still dangerous? They've been dead a long
time.”

“They, the killers left. I think they killed everyone.” Grendelle
sobbed, looking at Janet. Your girl friend?” She asked, noticing how
quietly Janet looked around.

“You could say that,” He answered, “what happened?” He repeated, “and
why? You mean they came here for no reason, killed everyone, then
left?”

“That's just what happened.” She told him defensively, “you must be
tired and hungry, come on in. I have a room prepared where you can eat
and rest. We can talk tomorrow.” She showed them to her special room.
“A little dirty, I didn't expect anyone.” She apologized, showing
them inside.

Michael headed for the doctored chair, it looked so comfortable. He was
surprised when Janet hurried past him to sit down.

“Wha...” he decided to let it go, and headed for the kitchen. Grendelle
had no real preference. She slightly preferred males, but what the
hell. She sat down in her own chair, with the controls. The food
wasn't doctored, let him eat first, his last meal. He would last
longer that way.

“What's this can like, Quiffle meat it says, I never had any.” Michael
interrupted her thoughts.

“Something like your Whiskle. Go ahead, pull the tab.” She told him
petulantly, wanting to get started. She had to wait while he ate,
bringing a sandwich to Janet, who nodded and ate it quietly.

“Where did you come from, the Ankkle Continent?” She asked Janet, who
didn't answer.

“Earth, you ever heard of it?” Michael interjected.

“Really? I think I have. Isn't that somewhere in the Milky way or
something?” Grendelle was interested. Her first off world kills.
Maybe more were coming. “Any more of you here?”

“Na. We came alone?” He told her around a mouthful of delicious
Quiffle. Michael finally went over and sat down in another chair.
Darn, Grendelle thought, It was just a normal chair. All it had were
restraints, and those were manual. Still, he looked pretty weak,
compared to her.

Might as well get started, she thought, mouth starting to water in
anticipation. It had been a long time. She silently pushed a button
that encircled Janet's arms and ankles with restraints. Janet sat
quietly, not seeming to even notice. She did swing her eyes to meet
Grendelle's, still seemingly uninterested.

Michael hadn't noticed either, his eyes on his lovely hostess. The one
who walked over to him, hips swinging sensually. The one who,
capturing his gaze in her deep green orbs, played around with his right
arm, holding him mesmerized while she did so.

It wasn't until she kissed him and he heard a slight click, that he
looked down and found his arms cuffed to the chair arms. Grendelle
then bit down hard on his lip, holding his gaze again, deep in her
soulless green stare.

“What the hell!” He exclaimed, as she laughed and returned to her seat.

“We're going to have a lot of fun.” She beamed happily. “Let's start
with your tender girlfriend.”

Grendelle gave the button a quick tap, to bring a shaft up a few inches
under Janet, anticipating a painful reaction from her. But Janet sat
quietly, if a few inches further up in the chair, swinging her eyes
over to meet Grendelle's. The torturess held her hand down on the
button, then started pushing buttons, in a panic.

Janet just rose higher, a blank look on her pretty face, finally
bursting her bonds from the pressure. Michael, now watching, started
to grin at Grendelle, further confusing the torturer.

In a rage, Grendelle rose to her feet. Something was wrong. The woman
felt fear herself, for the first time in her long life. With a roar,
she ran at Michael, who sat and smiled.

“Get her, Honey.” He commanded. In a flash the metahuman had Grendelle
in her strong grasp.

Michael played with the chair controls in Grendelle's chair. When he
was ready he had Janet sit her down in the torture chair and had some
fun trying them out, while Janet watched silently.

Afterwards they cleaned up the mess and slept together in the
comfortable bed. While he slept, Janet looked over at the chair, and
smiled.
