just before they went out and shot somebody. ‘The kid's muscling in on
my territory. I gotta take him out. You with me or not?' Vincent simply
nodded understandingly and sat down next to his best friend and leader.

They both took out their pieces for a final examination before 8
o'clock, when Tony always came round. That was his fatal mistake, Louie
thought to himself. You can't step on people's toes and then stick to a
routine. It's too easy to become a target that way. ‘Not to worry'
Louie thought to himself. “It was just one of the lessons he was going
to teach ‘Baby Tooth' and his thugs.”

Finally, after several minutes had agonisingly dragged by, Louie spotted
the group of four about 50 metres off and approaching steadily. He felt
the flutter of nerves in his stomach transform into balloons of
excitement which completely and utterly filled Louis with anticipation.
He quickly tucked his weapon back into concealment and waited anxiously
for Tony to approach. He held his breath as ‘Baby Tooth' came to a stop
and glared at the hunched-over figure by the stairs. Inhaling deeply,
‘Big Louie' rose to his feet and began his momentous march forward.
With each measured step he could see Tony's eyes began to freeze and
his lips shuffle with uncertainty. Grinning confidently to himself,
Louie reached his eighth step and reached behind him. As his left foot
touched on the pavement, Louis extracted his weapon with practised
speed and with almost military precision steadied his aim and fired
directly at ‘Baby Tooth' Tony. To his utter dismay, Louie's trusty
firearm emitted nothing. Not even a puff of smoke. Tony and his friends
burst out laughing and continued on. Louie hurled the useless piece of
plastic to the ground in disgust.

‘It doesn't matter,' he told himself as he trudged back inside his house
to get ready for school, as his mind whirled with plans of vengeance.
