I've re-worked it a little. It's still the story of my father. I just hope it's more understandable now. Thanks for the tips. As always feedback is greatly appreciated.

you loved most die before your eyes. He thought that my aunt was dead
instantly, so he went to my father's side. He stayed with him the whole
time.

He didn't suffer too many injuries, just scratches and bruises. He was
in the truck each time it flipped, end over end, twelve times. He felt
each flip, but not just with his body. He's prayers weren't answered
that night. The real pain you can only see in his eyes. They tell their
own story.

He still wakes up on that night every year. Even though it's been almost
24 years. I don't know if he will ever get over it. Sometimes, I pray
that he doesn't. If he forgot about it, it would be like him
forgetting the worst night of his and my life. It would be someone else
who has forgotten what my father meant to the world.

I know it's too late for my father to make it up to me. All these years
later, I still hold it against him. I hold it against him that he
wasn't there for me when I needed him the most.

He wasn't there for me when I got my first nightmare. He wasn't there
for me when I got my first boyfriend. He wasn't there for me when I got
my first heartache. He wasn't there for me when I got married. He
wasn't there for me when I had each of my babies. He wasn't there for
me when I went thru my divorce. He wasn't there for me when I got
married again. Someone else had to step up to the plate and do his job
for him.

So, I do think it does get too late for us. I do believe that there is a
higher price we have to pay. When you hurt someone, it will come back
and bite you on the butt. In one form or another, it will happen. You
may want to think twice before you decide that you want to give up on
someone. You may not get another chance to make it up to them. You may
never get the chance to say "I'm sorry". Think about it. Is it ever
too late?
