something I could call my own. Once it was completed, I would sit
inside and take off my wool mittons with my mouth, biting on the tiny
bits of ice dangling from the loose threads, letting them dissolve in
my mouth. I would sit there long enough to watch the shadows run
across the ground. The silence inside of that igloo was more than I
could handle. It gave me a clearer and calmer head then any other
entity ever could. Everything was right in the world when I was in my
igloo, but it would melt away after not too long, exposing the dark
green grass that I had uncovered for carpet. And the thing that I
called mine, would be gone.

Now standing on my porch, I took a second to inhale the thick, cold air.
As my lungs expanded from the crisp oxygen, my nose was nipped at
inside and out by the flowing air I controlled from with in. I stepped
off the edge of the rigid paved step onto the intertwining of
microscopic ice particles as they collapsed under my weight, giving a
satisfying crunch to the foot and the ear. I took many of these steps
towards the one imperfection I could find in the snow. My newspaper,
warmly wrapped in a white woven blanket that was so delicatly placed
with the edges of it’s blue plastic clothing exposed to only me. I
picked it up with my right hand, holding it by the wrinkled open end,
and shook the blanket off into dust as it flickered to the ground. I
followed my trail of destruction back into the house where I removed my
Rubber Duckies that were now encrusted with their own blankets. I
sneaked across the ceramic with caution and rested back into my throne.
I hadn’t realized how hard I was breathing, and consciously tried to
slow it. I swallowed the air as slowly as sipping a milkshake, and let
it escape with the same control. I took the newspaper out of it’s
clothing, exposing it for the information and entertainment it
possesses, and read my paper at my own ease.
