As he was digging, an ancient woman stepped out of the car. She wore a faded red dress, and wore a soiled white hat. “Prescott and Else,” thought Hercules. They are back, I must warn him. The car lights began to blink furiously. I glanced out the window and realized that the murderer and his accomplice had returned. Without thinking I ran out the door. “Stop, murderer” I shouted vainly. The old man looked at me, and leveled a pistol at my temple. Bang. I felt blood rush down my cheeks and pour into my nostrils. The saline smell was intoxicating, and I began to doze off. Prescott and Else quickly grabbed an old bag and began to run towards their car. Hercules rushed into action. The headlights blared, and she headed straight for the couple. They crumpled to the floor soundlessly. Hercules made the slow descent down the hill and sped towards the San Francisco Bay. Once at the pier, the brakes screeched to a halt. In full view of a group of horrified tourists, the red car sped off the pier and plunged into the icy waters. It drifted down, down, to the depths of the bay. There it rested on the top of a pile of calcified bones. Mrs. Jones and her shiny red car were reunited again. Tweet
