As they were driving home, the man attempted to strike up some idle conversation. “So, how did the stakeout go?” He said nervously. He cringed a little. “I-I’m sorry!” He said contritely. They pulled up to the front door of her apartment building. The man started to say something, but Karyn didn’t hear it as she slammed the door. She smiled at the doorman as she walked toward the elevator. Once inside, she pushed the buttons to take her to the 32nd floor, and leaned up against the wall. A creaking sound echoed throughout the shaft, and she began to sweat. A faulty cable in the shaft began slowly coming unwound. The cable snapped, and the car began plummeting towards the first floor. Karyn began screaming as she gripped the railings of the car. At that instant, a panel from the roof of the car, busted in and Cassidy jumped in. Quicker than she could blink, she was hoisted out of the car. The next thing she knew, she was watching the elevator car plummet downward and then explode as it hit bottom. She looked up and Cassidy smiled. He was holding onto a bundle of wire. She fainted. Tweet
