stopped the car suddenly. “well I just wanted you to know that after
bein' with you, that I've started to have some feeling's for you. And
well I just want you to know that I really like you, and I'm ready to
do anything right now to make you happy.” Jim looked at her, and smiled
as he started to drive again.

Sonya had the girlish charm of a little kid, and the looks of a super
model. Her mind was one thing not to be messed with, and her body was
perfect. Well of course this is how Jim thought of her, but he wasn't
the only one.

“Jim how long have you been holding that back?” she asked him.

“About a year, I guess. Why?”

“Just to let you know....I feel the same way to you.” she said.

Jim's eyes grew, and so did his smile. He slammed on the brakes again,
and pulled the car over to the side of the road. He looked over at her,
but didn't say anything. She looked back at him with a smile, and
unfastened her seatbelt.

“At least we both got it out there huh?” she asked, still smiling.

“Uh.....yeah, very good.” Jim responded.

Sonya continued to look at him with the smile on her face. She leaned
across the car, and lightly kissed Jim's lips. Jim's eyes grew huge as
she kissed him, but it seemed like a second and it was over. Sonya sat
back down and buckled herself into the car, but Jim just looked at her.
He was shocked, and his mind had a thousand thoughts a second. The wind
blew, and his hair blew into his eyes. He brushed back his hair, and
started to drive again.

“Ya know that was the most random thing you've ever done don't you?” He
asked.

She looked at him, and nodded her head. “Yup sure am, but you can't say
we didn't enjoy it.”

Jim nodded his head, and continued down the road. He looked back at her
with a smile, “We'll have to do that more often huh?”
***********************

Eva sat alone at the house, and waited for Sonya to return from her trip
to Eric's grave. Her patience slowly dissipated as she awaited the
return of her friend. She had short brown hair, dark blue eyes, and a
thin figure. Her hair was tied up into a pony tail. She was wearing a
light red skirt, and a black tank top. The weather outside the house
was very warm, and inside was just a little bit cooler.

She sat looking at a magazine, and sighed. At that moment a young man,
no older than herself, walked into the room.

“Hey Eva, you ok?” he asked.

She just nodded her head, and kept looking at the magazine.

“Gee, sure don't seem like it.” he said.

“Jason Adver, you worry to much about me, ya know that?” she replied.

Jason looked at her, and nodded his head. He then walked over the her,
and sat down in her lap.

“I'll always worry about you. You know that better than anyone.”

“Oh, is it because you love me so much?”

“Yup” Jason smiled, “sure is Eva.”

The two sat in the chair, but Jason got up and left to get something to
eat. As he walked into the kitchen the door opened up, and Sonya was
standing in the doorway.

“Sonya! What took ya?” Eva asked her.

“Sorry, Jim pulled over the car, and well...”she stopped talking for a
moment. That was just enough time for Jason to get a question in.

“Well what?” he asked.

Sonya looked at Eva, and then at Jason. Her eyes looked like she was
about to cry.

“Well what the heck happened kiddo?” he asked her again.

“We kissed.” she answered.

Eva didn't say a word, but just looked at her. She was so shocked. Never
in her life did she think Jim would ever get a kiss out of Sonya. She
thought that maybe if he felt bad he would get as small kiss on the
cheek, so she took that as what happened.

“Wow.” Jason remarked.

“Where did you kiss him?” Eva looked at her, as she asked.

“Where else?” Sonya replied.

“You kissed him on the lips didn't ya?” Eva asked her.

Sonya nodded her head, and smiled.

“I'll be damned.”

Sonya sat down on the couch. Jim of all people probably wouldn't have
expected the kiss, but it happened. She looked like the kind of girl
that would go for the big tough guys that had the Nero links on them,
even though Jim did, but she seemed to have a thing for peace loving
guys.

“What are ya gonna' do if it gets around school?” Jason asked her, as he
leaned on the back of Eva's chair.

“So what? I'm glad I did it....best thing to happen to me in years.” she
smiled. ***********************

The next day at school, Sonya walked in the front door. Jim was waiting
for her as he usually did, but something seemed different. She walked
over to him, and wrapped her arm around his shoulders.

“What's up with you today kiddo?” she asked smiling at him.

Jim didn't say anything, but instead handed her a newspaper. She took
the paper, and looked at the front page.

“Oh my god......” that was all she could say at the site.

“It's only worse than you think.....they'll show up here sooner or
later, lookin' for them.” Jim said.

“You mean lookin' for us don't ya?” she responded.

“If you consider the fact it says ‘All of the Martians here on Earth are
a threat, and must be destroyed' I would say yes.” Jim said looking at
her. Both Jim, and Sonya were born on Mars but it never seemed like it
would come to this. The United Earth Army seemed to want any person of
Martian blood killed. Sure they both knew about the war, but to kill
everyone? That was a crazy thought, even for the UEA. The two of them
stood looking at each other, and Jim sighed.

“Well....I guess we have to fight them. I mean, I got a link up so I can
pilot a suit. Plus you've got a link up. Eva's gettin' her's this
afternoon, so maybe we can get my family's old suits and run.” he
suggested.

Sonya nodded her head and they walked off to class, her arms still
around him. *********************************

The day progressed on, and the two stood outside a small building, arms
around one another, as they waited for Eva to come out with her new
Nerolink. Both Sonya, and Jim already had links but Eva wasn't aloud to
get hers until she was 16. Her birthday had been just a few days ago,
so now she could get one.

Sonya was holding onto Jim, and her face had been flat against his chest
for some time. The small amount of sunlight outside the small building
reflected in her eyes. She stood there, and they waited.

“Think she'll ever come out of there?” asked Jim.

“Sure she will....not like it hurts or nothin'.” Sonya said.

Jim looked down at her. He was slightly taller than her, but only by an
inch or so. His eyes seemed to look down so far just to see her face,
he hated that. He wanted to just be able to look her in the eyes all
the time. To see her eyes was a great thing for Jim. To have kissed her
the night before was even better. He thought she was the prettiest
thing on all of Earth, and he loved her eyes.

At that moment Eva walked out the door of the small building, rubbing
the back of her neck, and walked over to the two. They just stood and
looked at her as she rubbed her neck.

“Man this itches.” she said.

Jim and Sonya smiled at her as they all walked to Jim's car. They all
got in, and Eva leaned over the front seat to talk to Sonya.

“So what's he like?” she whispered.

“What? Why do you care? Don't you go out with Jason??” she asked.

“Yeah, but I was always sorta' wonderin' who to look to about Jim.” Eva
replied with a smile on her face.

Sonya just stopped talking to her, and leaned back in her seat. It would
be a long drive to Jim's house form here, so she figured she'd go to
sleep. She knew that if she did one of the other two would wake her up,
most likely Jim with a kiss. Jim was just that sort of guy.

He sat in the driver's seat with one hand on the wheel as they drove to
the small farm that they would be staying at. His other arm sat on the
window sill of the door, and his long hair wasn't in his eyes like it
was when he was just walking around. He looked to the road sign on the
side of the road. It read, “North Sormarville: 32 miles”. His farm was
in the small, almost unoccupied, town of North Sormorville. Because of
the fact that it had such a small population, nobody would report three
Martian runaways to the UEA.

They drove for a little while longer, and they reached the farm. As
Sonya and Eva got out and unpacked, waiting for Jason to show up, Jim
just sat in the car a little while longer. Sonya looked over at him and
saw the concerned look in his eyes. She walked back over to the car,
and lightly kissed him.

“You gonna' be ok Jim?” she asked him.

He just nodded.

“Well mind if I sit with you?” she asked.

“Sure,” Jim said invitingly “two's a better number than one anyway.”

“Jim you don't have to worry about it......they'll never find us here.”
Sonya said to him.

“It's not that.....I'm concerned about Jason. Sure he's a pure blooded
Earthling, but he can get the death penalty for helpin' us escape. Ya
know?” he said sighing.

The thought of leaving Jason behind made him sick. He knew that if the
UEA found out what Jason had done, they would kill him. Not only for
helping them escape from the UEA, but for being in a long term
relationship with one of them too. He thought it over some more, and
looked back behind him as the sounds of Jason's car neared. He sighed
again, knowing that Jason wouldn't last long if he was caught.

Sonya looked at Jim, and sighed. She knew that he felt for Jason, they
were almost like brothers. They did practically everything together,
and they would both be hurt by the separating.

As Jason started to unpack Jim got out of the car, “Come on,” he said to
Sonya “let's go in..it's late and we'll need sleep. We gotta' fix up
them suits in the morning.” ***************************************

They all slept well that night in their new beds. Jason and Eva had a
bed together, as did Jim and Sonya. Although Jim was the first up, he
was the last to eat breakfast. He walked into the kitchen, and inhaled
deeply.

“Smells great, what ya cookin'?” he asked Eva.

“Omelets, bacon, toast, pancakes, the good healthy breakfast.” she
smiled at Jim and laughed a little.

Jim sat down at the table, and ate his food. He looked around, but
didn't see Sonya anywhere.

“She's already started fixing her suit. You wanna find her.......go
check the workshop.” Jason said mildly.

Jim walked out of the house and over to the small workshop, where he
found Sonya working hard to fix her suit. He sat down next to her, and
picked up his suit's left glove.

“Little early for work ain't it?”

“Never too early when it's freedom that you're workin' on.” she replied
from under a lift.

Although battlesuits were human size, they were still easier to fix on a
lift.

“Well I guess I better get working on those chainguns then huh?” Jim
asked.

“No, we'll get Jason to fix the weapons. We need to work on the suits.”
she answered, sliding out from under the lift. Her face was covered in
oil, and grease. Some engine fluid from the jet boosters had leaked on
her shoulder.

“Better not try to light anythin' down here...you'll blow yourself to
oblivion.” Jim said laughing.

“Yeah, call the other two in here.......you do realize that we have only
about a day or two to get outta' here right?” she asked.

“Yeah, that's why I wanted those guns fixed ASAP. So if they get here
sooner we have a small chance.” he responded, as he started to weld
parts of the suit. *******************************

Eva and Jason had walked in a short time after, and the weapons had been
fixed in a second. Eva, Jim, and Sonya still worked hard on getting
their suits to work. They had done numerous felid test, and Jim's still
had a few problems to fix. As they worked, the owners of the farm
brought them food and drinks. They worked for the next few days, and
almost two weeks after arriving at the farm they were done.

“It's about god damn time.” Jason said.

“Well you didn't help too much with mine..it only being the most complex
of the three.” Jim replied. “Plus it's hard as hell to fix these
boosters, they are Martian and require Martian materials.” He looked at
Jason.

“Jim, Jason! We got trouble comin' from the east!” yelled Sonya from the
house.

“Oh Christ, Jason get them guns loaded! We're gonna' hafta' fight them
off!” screamed Jim. Jason nodded his head, and loaded the guns with
ammo.

Jim opened the doors to the shed, and aimed his rifle that he held
firmly with both hands. He took carful aim a fired a shot. It hit one
of the UEA suits in the head, killing the pilot instantly. He grabbed a
chaingun, and started to run trying to draw their fire. He kept running
until he reached the house. He ducked behind the wall as a mass barrage
of bullets blew off parts of the wall, and he waited as the sounds of
boosters died down to nothing. He knew they were on foot now, and this
would be his best chance. He didn't have a suit on, which made him a
much weaker target. He had no armor of any sort, and would die from one
carefully placed shot.

“I gotta' get them away from the house.......can't let them find Sonya.”
he said to himself as he snuck around to the back of the house.

Jim peered around the corner to see three suits coming towards him. He
ducked back around the corner, and aimed his chaingun in the direction
the men were coming. He sat in wait, but to his surprise, neither man
came around the corner. He sat and waited a little long then peaked
around the corner. As his head looked to his left he herd a pistol
being cocked, and he turned his head to end up looking down the barrel
of a gun.

“Stupid kids, think you can out wit us?” asked the man in the suit. But
before Jim could even give his smart remark of an answer the man
dropped.

“What the hell?” Jim said in shock.

He looked behind the dead man to see Sonya with her rifle in her hands.
She smiled, and ran to the shed to get her suit. Jim ran out from
behind the wall and opened fire on the UEA suits, his chaingun spurting
out empty ammo cases at high speeds. He held down the trigger until it
made a clicking nose. He knew that hew as out of bullets and would have
to reload. He started to run with parts of the ground behind him
blowing up from enemy fire, and slapped a new clip into his chaingun.
He rolled across the ground, and fired again. He looked up as three of
the UEA suits exploded.

“Come on girls....a little bit faster will help much more.” he said to
himself, while he tried to catch his breath.

Just then two battle suits flew out of the shed, and opened fire on the
UEA troops. Their suits fell one after the other to the two rebels, and
the captain was the only one left. He reached for his Saiber blade, but
before he could get it out he felt something on the back of his head.
He turned to see Jason with his pistol between his eyes.

“Too bad I hate you guys.” he said smiling as he pulled the trigger.
“You guys better get them suits outta' here before more of them show
up. God only know how many of them could be out here.”

Everyone else agreed, and they packed the suits into the truck. Jim and
Sonya sat in the back with the suits, while Eva drove them off. Jason
stood next to the truck as it pulled away saying, “Eva, I will always
love you!” His words echoing off the hills and the valleys.
***************************************

They drove on for some time before reaching the next town, where they
stopped for fuel and food. Jim hopped out of the back, and help Sonya
down. They walked into the café as the truck re-fueled.

“Jim, do you really think that we can get away from them so easy?” Sonya
asked as they sat down at the table.

“No, it's not gonna' be easy. It's gonna' take all the firepower we have
to fight them off, but maybe we can find some help from other Martians
out here.” he said as he picked up a menu.

A man at the counter turned around and walked over to them, “You're
Martians?” he asked with a deep voice.

Jim looked up at him with a serious look in his eyes, “Yeah, why do you
ask? You work for the UEA or somethin'?” Jim asked patting his handgun.

“No, I'm a freedom fighter from Luna. My sister's down here to fight for
our freedom as well as yours, but she doesn't know that yet. I just
hope she meets up with the guys I assigned to her.” the man said.

“Sit down, join us.” Eva said invitingly.

“Thank you young lady.” he sat down, “Oh, incase you're wondering, my
name's Sgt. Macromis.”

“Macromis? Hey Jim, that's Kera's last name. Think she might be?” Sonya
asked.

“Maybe. Well excuse me sir, but is your sister's name Kera?” Jim asked
him.

“Yes, you know her? Oh if you want just call me Steve.” he said.

“Yeah we know her, but why would they send Kera down to fight off a
whole army?” he asked again.

“I dunno',” Steve replied, “it wasn't my choice. That's the reason I
enlisted, so I could stay I fight along her and make sure she's ok at
all times.”

Sonya looked at the tall man sitting across the table from her, “No need
to worry to much, she's got that.....” she was cut off by Steve.

“Ric? Yeah I know, but I don't trust him too much yet.” he said.

“Well whatever. Hey if you're fightin' the UEA then come with us. We
could always use some more people to help fight them off.” Jim said,
“Plus once you're done helpin' us you can go back and fight alongside
Kera.”

Steve looked down at the table for a moment, and then into Jim's cold
blue eyes.

“Sure, I'll help you. My suit's in my truck.” he replied with a smile.

None of them had ever seen Jim's suit, he didn't want them too for some
reason. So he did all his test in a separate field where nobody would
see it.

They all ate their food, and walked over to the truck. They pulled out
Sonya's suit first. The left arm was a normal peace of armor with a
saiber blade hooked to the lower arm, just above the wrist. The right
arm had a small grenade launcher in the wrist armor. On the back were
it's powerful boosters, and it's rifle. Next to it lay the high powered
custom chaingun.

Next they took out Eva's suit. The whole left arm was a weapon. The left
arm was a large cannon, but still had a hand area. The cannon was built
onto the top of the arm, and the handle folded down when needed. The
right arm had a small cloaking device on it. The left side of the hips
had her saiber blade. The right side had a small equipment box holding:
grenades, pistol ammo, and other such tools. The pistol sat on the
upper right leg. The back was equipped with the boosters, and next to
hers lied a sub machine gun.

The helmets were almost the same. Sonya's had a phoenix painted on the
side, with “SONYA RED” spelt out in flames behind it. Eva's had sun,
and stars on the sides. The words “SUN OF THE GALAXY” written on the
sun in black letters.

“Very nice suits. What about yours Jim?” Steve said.

“You'll see it when I fight in it.....trust me.” he answered calmly.

Steve didn't seem to trust Jim because he didn't know what Jim's suit
would be capable of. He stared at Jim, and walked over to the truck he
had. He turned around to see Jim and Sonya holding each other in their
arms. He was hoping the Ric was treating Kera the same way, and he knew
he probably was. They all walked off, and got into their trucks and
drove off. Steve drove behind Eva Jim and Sonya, but not too far behind
them. His truck was much smaller than theirs because he only had one
suit in the back, instead of three. He sat in the driver's seat of his
truck and stayed right behind them the best he could on the highway. He
had no clue where they were heading, but he was determined to help them
escape from the UEA's traps.

“Do you trust him at all?” Sonya asked Jim.

Jim smiled and looked at her, “I trust only you, but he seems to really
want to help.” He looked at Sonya, “Why do you ask? Havin' doubts about
him already?”

“No, it's just we've never seen him fight before. What if he's no good?”
she said in response.

“Hey, the Luna militias don't let in bad pilots. I mean, hell, they only
lost 3 pilots in this last sixteen years. He's bound to be somewhat
good.” Jim's words were strong. He had studied the Luna militias, and
knew more about them than Sonya ever had.

“Well I hope he is...for our sakes.” she said.

“Hey, you never seen me fight in a suit neither.” Jim said, looking at
her. They were sitting in the back of the truck with the suits.

“Yeah, but I can trust the guy I love to save my life any day of the
week.” she winked at him and they both laughed. “Besides, I know you're
a good fighter. I mean look what you pulled at the farm!” she said.

“Just tryin' to give you two time to get your suits.” he answered in a
second. ***************************

They drove on for the rest of the day, and soon came to a motel where
they stayed for the night.

Jim and Sonya lay in one bed, while Eva slept in another. Steve had his
own room, but stood out on the deck smoking a cigarette. He stood all
alone with a cigarette in one hand, and a small computer like object in
the other. He stood alone on the balcony, and looked up at the cloudy
skies. It was well past midnight and he knew it well, but didn't care.

Suddenly the computer started to beep, “Steve you there?!” came a voice
from the speakers.

“Yeah I'm still here, what's goin' on?” he answered to the voice.

“Where in the name of god are you?” asked to voice, “We can't find you
anywhere on the scanners.”

“Don't worry about it Ken, I turned off my signal array as to not give
away my position. Why are you so damn uptight all of a sudden?”

“I'm just worried, that's all. But I do have some bad news for ya.” he
answered with a sigh, “Kera and Ric are missing. Our best guess is that
they fled to Mars, or Luna. Those are the only two places they can goto
right now.”

“What about a station? Maybe they went to one of them.”

“Sorry Steve, that's the most likely thing to do. Flee to a station
where the UEA has no fears of killing anyone.” Ken's voice was gettin'
faint and blurry, “Look, we'll keep lookin' for them..I promise that
Kera will be brought back to you perfectly ok. For now I gotta' go....”
Ken's voice disappeared, and Steve let out a slight sigh. He could only
hope that the UEA hadn't caught Kera and Ric.
***********************************

Morning time rolled along slowly, and Jim sat on the bed waiting for
Sonya to get her stuff together to go. She walked out the door with jim
right behind her. They were both moving slow because of the early hours
they were leaving. It was no later than five in the morning when they
started to get ready, and everyone was still a bit tired. Steve stood
looking at the two and shook his head. He couldn't stop thinking about
Kera, and if she was ok.

“Hey Steve.” came a voice form behind him. He turned around to see Eva
sitting on the hood of the truck, “you never went to bed last night
huh? You look really tired.”

“I was just out thinkin'. Us adults do that often ya know.” he said with
a smile on his face.

“Funny.” she replied ***********************************

The two trucks drove down the highway again towards the spaceport, but
something didn't seem right. Jim sat in the back of one truck with
Sonya, and looked at the floor with a strange thought running through
his mind. What if they follow us? He thought, but he was soon
interrupted by Eva.

“Jim! We got UEA police on us! What should I do?” she yelled, worried as
ever.

Jim thought for a moment, “Just keep goin' and try to lose them. If that
doesn't work then...um....I dunno', pull over grab your suit and run
like hell!” he answered.

Jim opened the back window of the truck to see their persuers. The force
of cars, troop carriers, hovercotpers, and mechas must have totaled to
around 30 or 40 people following them. His eyes grew wide in the shock
of the mechas. Suddenly there was an explosion and the whole truck
shook. Jim and Sonya both feel over, and Eva slightly banged her head
on the wheel.

“Jim we need to fight them.” Sonya suggested.

“Only if we have no other options.” he answered while fumbling to his
feet again.

Another explosion and another, they didn't seem to stop. Jim held onto a
handle in the back of the truck. He could hear the rockets firing from
the launchers, and the bullets hitting the ground next to the truck.
Jim started to think again, but like before was interrupted. Not by Eva
though, but by the truck flipping over.

He crawled out of the back as smoke and fire started near the engine,
“Sonya! Where are you?!” he yelled. No answer, “Sonya?! Where is she
at? I gotta' find her!”

Sonya then climbed out the side where a massive hole was, “Lookin' for
me?” she said sarcastically.

“Sonya! Where's Eva?” Jim asked while catching his breath.

“Right here,” answered her voice from a little down the hill next to the
truck.

When they looked down, there stood a suit with her in it's arms. It was
Steve. His suits arms where long gloves that ran up a little past the
elbow. The armor was black with flames running up the arm guards. The
Luna Militia symbol was on his chest, and a high powered energy rifle
was slung over his left shoulder. How had he gotten into his suit so
quickly though? It didn't matter at the time, they had the UEA to worry
about more.

“Sonya, get to your suit. Eva that goes for you too!” said Jim over
gunfire.

The two girls ran for their suits, and Jim hid behind the overturned
truck. He had only a pistol and at such long range he wouldn't do too
much damage to the UEA suits. He covered his head as a piece of the
truck flew over his head. He poked his head out from behind the truck
to see three suits returning the UEA's fire.

“Eva, take the left. Steve, take right and I'll take center. Got it?”
Sonya Siad through the comlink.

“Right.” the other two replied in unison as the three suits spilt into a
deadly triangle.

I really hope they know what their doing. Well either way, I need to get
my suit on too. Thought Jim as he ran into the back of the trailer.

The three rebel suits fought on, and took large amounts of damage.
Sonya's chaingun blazed a hail of bullets on the UEA, Eva's cannon
unleashed round after round, and Steve's energy blast were cutting
through the jeeps and other suits. They wouldn't last long just
standing in one spot, but Sonya's mind couldn't keep up with the fight
as it was.

Suddenly another explosion from the truck, but this time from the
inside. Sonya spun around to see what had happened, but their was
nothing to see. Just fire and passing bullets, rockets, energy blast.
She turned back around and continued to fire.

“Sonya, I have an idea.” Steve said.

“Tell me.” she answered.

“We can make a break for it down to the river. Once down there we can,”
he paused and shot a blast into a jeep causing it to explode. “We can
hide under that bridge. I'll singe the ground so they'll think we took
off.” he said.

Sonya looked ta him, and nodded. “Eva did you get all that?”

“Yeah, got it all down.”

“Good, let's go!”

They all ran down the hill, and the girls hid under the bridge as Steve
shot off a blast to singe the dirt. Masses of suits took off into the
air to chase them, but they just sat tight. When the course seemed
clear a suit walked over to the bridge. It was a unknown suit, none of
them could identify it.

“How did that one figure us out so fast??” Steve said in confusion.

The girls both shrugged their shoulders as the suit got nearer. They all
raised their weapons and got ready to fire.

“Whoa people, chill out. It's me, Jim” said his voice. The suit was
built like a stunt suit, but equipped for full fledged combat. The arms
were black, and had a dark red line running up them. On the wrist of
each arm was a small flame thrower. The assault rifle was slung over
his right shoulder, and his pistol was in it's holster on his leg. The
left knuckles were equipped for close combat with a two inch spike on
each knuckle. The jet boosters jotted outwards from his back, and a
smaller set of boosters were clipped to the back of his legs. The
helmet looked like the head of a devil, and the suit in all could have
been considered a construct of hell in it's self.

“Wow, that's an impressive suit if ya ask me.” Eva said.

Sonya looked at it with aw. Jim's suit had something every other suit
they had lacked. On the right shoulder pad where many different
symbols, but one really got to her. It was a small red circle with four
lines around it. One on top, one on the bottom, and one on each side.
It was the symbol of the Martian Armies.

“Jim what's that on your shoulder pad?” she asked, pointing to the
symbol.

“Huh, oh this thing? Well um, I meant to tell ya but I didn't wanna'
scare you away. I'm a Martian solder, and have been for a few years.
Been training here on Earth to end the war by briggin' the UEA down
from the inside. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before.” he said bowing
his head. His head suddenly jerked up again when a loud beep went off
in his ear, it was the beep of an alert. Everyone else was bound to
hear it too in their helmets and he knew that they were in for the
fight of their lives.

“Look you two we have no time for your little personal affairs! We have
to fight off them UEA suits or it won't matter who works for who!” Eva
said as she took carful aim with her cannon. She let off three shots
into the sky, still being blackened with smoke, and a number of
explosions could be seen in the air. She let off another volley of
shots, and looked at the two Martians. “You two gonna' just stand
there, or help me here?!” she yelled.

Jim nodded his head, unslung his rifle and took aim into the air. He
stood still looking through his scope into the mass of incoming
battlesuits, took careful aim and pulled the trigger. A barrage of over
15 rounds fired from his rifle. The OVC 10mm shells fired into the air
and explosions took the place of suits.

Sonya looked over at Jim as she reloaded her rifle with another clip, he
was so calm like none of this bothered him at all. “I've never seen him
so careful before, or calm at that.” she said to herself. She slapped
the clip into her gun and fired some rounds into an oncoming suit. The
UEA suit took the shots in the chest and the blood of the man
splattered onto her armor. An explosion went off behind her and she
almost feel to the ground, but regained her balance as she stepped
foward. She shot off some more rounds and ran towards Eva and Steve.

“We can't take them like this much longer ya' know.” Eva said to Steve
as he took aim with his energy cannon.

“I know that damn well, thank you very much.” he said as he pulled the
trigger to unleash another massive blast.

Jim looked around for a way to get out of the problem. He turned around
and looked behind him, he saw a small building and knew what it was.

“The old M-R-K Battlesuit Plant! That's it, Sonya! Come on, we're goin'
to that plant. Eva, Steve, you two run and find some cover for now.” he
said, and he and Sonya took off flying towards the old plant. Jim had
some kind of idea, just nobody knew exactly what it was.

Sonya looked over at him as they flew low to the ground, making
themselves harder targets, and thought about this idea he had. She knew
that he was probably going to throw himself into the masses of UEA
suits, and probably would kill himself to save the others. The thing
that worried her most were the mechas, why hadn't they joined in yet?

“Jim I really hope you know exactly what you're doing.” she said to him
over the comlink. He looked over at her, and just nodded.

They landed infront of the main doors to the building, and shot them
open. They walked in, and hid behind corners as bullets flew threw the
now open doorway. Jim swung his rifle around the corner and unleashed a
mass of rounds. He heard an explosion, knowing he had hit at least one,
and smiled under his helmet. He motioned to Sonya, and they began to
run towards the stairs. They got to the stairs and started running up
them, firing behind them at the UEA troops.

“Sonya, follow me.....I really hope you're ready for a” Jim was cut off
by a loud cracking sound. He dropped to his knees, and began to gasp
for air. He looked down at his body to see a bullet hole in his torso.
A UEA troop now lied dead on the metal floor. His rifle, along with the
shell form the armor pericing round, lie next to his headless body.
Sonya stood over Jim with her saiber blade on and ready.

“Jim!!! Oh god, no Jim! Get up, I beg of you...GET UP!!!” she yelled
crying. She took off his helmet and he smiled at her. She removed her
own helmet and cut it in half as Eva's voice filled the comlink saying:
“Steve's been hit, he's dead...clean shot in the head with a high
powered snipe rifle.”

“Shhhh, just shhhhh. It'll be ok Sonya. We both knew something like this
would happen. Please, live on and remember that I love you.” his voice
was raspy, and blood dripped from his mouth. His once black glove had
been stained a dark shade of red from the hole in his stomach.

Another crack filled the air, and Sonya fell next to Jim. A small hole
in her armor, and into her chest. Blood leaked from her, and she
started to gasp for air like Jim had.

“Sonya, we love together...now, we die together.” Jim Siad looking at
her, as she used her strength to turn her head and look into his eyes.
The blue shone bright over the red covering the rest of his face. She
smiled at him, and they held each other for the last time.

“The UEA will never take our freedom.” they said together, as Jim shoved
his saiber blade into a generator next to them. The whirring sound
became louder, suddenly it was silent. Then the explosion. The whole
plant went up with one massive boom, and a ball of fire where it once
stood.

Eva turned around as the last of the UEA flew away, and looked into the
flames. All she saw were the faces of her best friend, and the man she
loved. She saw the faces of two people that would go down in the
history books of the Martian Revolution. James K. Drake, and Sonya Red.
She sighed as she walked away from the flames. Her helmet lie on the
ground next to Steve's once living body. The helmet lie crushed
underneath a footprint from her boot, and in pieces.
**************************************

The girl stood on the hill, looking at the two stone statues. One of an
Angel, the other of a Phoenix. She looked at the two stones, crying,
and read:

Here lies a brave, young, beautiful, and honorable young girl. Sonya C.
Lincon, otherwise called “Sonya Red”. Died in battle for her freedom
against the United Earth Army. She was only a mere 17 years old.

The girl read the next stone, the one with an angel.

Here lies a man of much courage. He, like the girl he loved, died in
combat with the United Earth Army. No words can describe him except
“Angelic”. Here lies James K. Drake, The Martian Angel. He was also
only 17 years old.

The girl looked at the two and bowed her head in respect. A boy walked
up behind her, and placed his arm around her.

“Oh Ric, why'd they do it?” she asked.

“Because, Kera, that's the way they worked. They lived together in love,
and died together with love. But don't worry, we'll win this war
together. I swear upon their graves, my father's, and Steve's.....this
Revolution will be our victory.” Ric said.

Kera looked at him with a slight smile. They both turned around, and
walked down the hill to an awaiting car. Ken Stood there with his one
good eye closed. The eyepatch on his left eye gave a slight glimmer in
the afternoon sunlight. They all got into the car and drove off.
***********************

It would be almost three more years until the Martian Revolution would
come near to a close. The personal war between the small group of
freedom fighters, and the UEA would go down in the history books as The
Red Battle, named after Sonya Red. Jim and Sonya would become heros to
everyone on Mars, Luna, and the Space stations. The people of Luna
would later find out after the battle about Steve's untimely death. The
many Militia members, family, friends, and all people of Luna would
mourn his demise. Eva would soon return home, and go back to Jason who
made it out alive. It would be only two years before they got married
and had their first child. They named their first born Red, after their
good friend. It would be only a month after Red's birth that Eva would
die of a cancer like virus, and Red would never know who her mother
really was. Jason would give Red to Eva's parents to raise. Ric and
Kera soon returned to Mars, after the war, and get married themselves.
It would be a glorious time, for a new ruler of Mars would be fair and
just with his ever loving wife by his side at all times.

REFERENCE GUIDE

Martian Revolution: A war fought by the colonist of Mars and the Moon
against the UEA, in order to win their independence(2306 A.E.-2324
A.E.)

UEA: United Earth Army. After all continental, country, and state
boundarys were demolished the Earth become one mass country. They would
be the UEE(United Earth Empire), and the UEA would soon form into their
military.

OVC- An old weapons, and ammo manufacturing company that would become a
mass production mega Corporation during the Revolution.

M-R-K: A company that used to make custom battle Suits for street
fighting. When street fighting was made illegal, the company was shut
down due to lack of money from sales.

Luna Militia: The fighting forces of the lunar Colonies. These forces
were like Luna's version of the Martian Revolutionist.

Battlesuit- The newest weapon used in the feild of combat. These suits
of armor are worn by a pilot who has a NEROLINK hookup. The NEROLINK is
a system that allows the pilot to control certain objects of the
battlesuit(boosters, shoulder/back mounted weapons, wrist mounted
tools, ect.). The NEROLINK is run by the pilot's brainwave activity
which is read into commands. Many forms of battlesuits exsist,
includeing: Army, stunt, work/matnece, and the popular custom suits.
These suits are used by anyone that can get one and have a NEROLINK.
The very first Battlesuit is the STRIKER which is piloted by Jobe
Cresthorn, a worrior for the Revolutionist, which didn't contain a
NEROLINK jack. How this suit was controlled was never found out after
Jobe destroyed it.

CHARACTER GUIDE

Sonya: This is the name of a friend of mine that lives in PA. She always
wanted me to write a song or something about her so I eventually just
made her into the main hero of a short story placed in the world of the
Martian Revolution. The description of this character in the beginning
are exactly what she looks like(from the pictures I have at least), and
her personality is one to match.

Jim: Jim is like an altered me. I based him after myself the best I
could without making him an exact copy of my own self. He's a Quiet,
sorta' cool going guy that likes Sonya. He soon falls I love with her,
and during THE RED BATTLE he and Sonya sacrifice their own lives to
save their friends.

Eva: This is just a character that I added to make the story more
interesting. She is the typical best friend to Sonya, always watching
out for her, making sure she's ok, asking too many questions(long
story, good joke, no time to tell it), and so forth.

Jason: This person really wasn't supposed to be in the story at all. I
threw him in at the last minute while thinking up Eva's character. He's
not really a main character, but more or less a side story in himself.

Eric: Eric is a character that is only mentioned in the story. He's
never shown, never speaks, nothing. This is due to the fact that Eric
died before this story was even starting. I'll probably make him his
own little side story to explain his unsightly death that disturbed
Sonya so much.

Ric: This is the Martian leader, and is the main character of the
“BLOOD” MARS story. His father was Quinten Torrence, who is killed in
the Revolution.

Kera: This is a young girl from the colonies of Luna. She is sent to
Earth to fight off the UEA, but is unaware of it. She instead makes the
best of it and falls in love with Ric. She soon starts to fight with
him, and they get married after the Revolution is over.

Steve: I just wanted some guy to have the main crew meet in a trucker
café, and Steve was the man. Based after a friend of mine that spends
most of his time at the mall in the food court. Steve is also Kera's
older brother, but wasn't supposed to be. I decided that while they
were talking I should bring in Ric and Kera some how. I found the best
way was to make Steve Kera' s brother.

Red: This is the daughter of Eva and Jason. She would be raised by Eva's
mother and father after Eva dies of a virus. She's not really anyone
special as of yet. I'm not sure if she'll be in the next “BLOOD” MARS
saga(World War), or in my current side story(Combat fighter).

Ken: This is one of Ric's body guards that is a main hero in “BLOOD”
MARS. He's spoken to by Steve, and drives Ric and Kera off at the end.
His left eye was taken out by a saiber knife.

THE SAGA OF THE MARTAIN REVOLUTION HAS SO FAR BEEN MY BEST WORK OF ART.
BASED ON THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR BETWEEN THE USA, AND BRITAIN IT BECAME
MY FAVORTIE STORY TO TELL. ALTHOUGH SET IN THE FAR FUTURE, I DIDN'T
MAKE IT ALL WHAT WE THOUGHT THE FUTURE TO BE. THERE ARE NO FLYING CARS,
NO LASER PISTOLS. THESE PEOPLE USE REGULAR BULLETS, MISSLES, ROCKETS,
GRENADES, AND LIMITED TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANTAGES. THE BATTLESUITS ARE A
FORM OF TECH THAT GIVE THIS STORY IT'S SCI-FI FEEL. I AM CURRENTLY
WORKING ON TWO OTHER SIDE STORYS OF THIS SAGA, AS WELL AS THE “BLOOD”
MARS NOVEL. I HOPE THAT SOMETIME I WILL FINISH “BLOOD” MARS AND IT'LL
BE ON SHELVES IN BOOKSTORES FOR EVERYONE OF THE SCI-FI LOVING PUBLIC TO
ENJOY. Spencer D. Taylor Author, writer, thinker......
