in the end, we're all the same ... | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story because he just happens to worship a god foreign to us is wrong. Even bigots, somewhere in their hearts, know it's wrong, but they do it anyway. They're afraid, because they don't understand. They won't take the time to understand because they hate. They hate because they're afraid. A vicious cycle ... broken only by knowledge. Each person should try every day to learn something about someone else. Talk to them. Ask them questions. Learn about their lives. Open your mind, and accept the fact that you are as different from them as they are from you. Some people just won't get it. Some people are so filled with hate that no amount of love and learning will work. These are the saddest people of all. These are the people that blame others for their own failings. “I can't get a job because of affirmative action ... I can't sell my house because a gay man lives in the neighborhood ... I can't get a promotion at work because my boss is a foreigner.” It's much easier to place blame than it is to accept fault, isn't it? If we can blame another person for our own failings, we can rationalize these failings. After all, it's not MY fault, it's his. So sad. Accept that we're different. Accept that we're all prejudiced. Accept the fact that, no matter who you are, someone hates you because of your skin color, or your status, or your religion, or your sexual tendencies. Accept them. And, maybe, if you're lucky, they'll accept you, too. Tweet
