This is called Part Three but there is no particular order... there is however a method to my madness that will become clear later on. For my warrior, with love. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story “Oh, I see. No wonder you are so nervous.” “Yes.” “How long have you been planning this trip?” “A few weeks, maybe a month. Not nearly long enough. Forever.” “I understand. This person lives in Toronto?” “No, he lives in California. He’s meeting me in Toronto.” “Goodness. He has far to go.” “Yes, very far.” “Do you suppose he’s as nervous as you?” I stare at her. I think of you, getting on an airplane, watching out the window, thinking of me. Were you nervous? Were you frightened, as I am now? Right now you are probably sitting in your hotel room, waiting for me. What are you thinking right now? My voice is hoarse as I reply, “I think he might be.” Her smile is gentle. “I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful trip.” “I hope so. Thank you.” “Oh, you’re welcome. Not I think I will use the washroom before our boarding call. Excuse me.” She leans heavily on her cane as she gets to her feet. Her eyes shine as she smiles again. “See you soon, I’m sure.” “Yes.” I look over at the not-so-noisy-anymore family. The two parents are sitting, each holding a child in their lap. The rest of the children are clustered on the floor at their feet. The eldest child holds the baby. Though the smaller ones are restless and shuffle constantly, they are all silent. The father and mother speak quietly. I cannot hear them, but I realize they are praying. He asks that his family be kept safe while he is gone. She asks that her husband be returned safely to her. The speaker blares out the boarding call as our flight is announced. I make my way through security, following signs, people, hallways. As I settle into my seat, the old woman sits down next to me and pats my hand, reassuring. Take-off. Tweet
