alive. Like John and Mimi still lived in it. There were family pictures
on the walls, and potted plants in various places about the house. You
could even smell the scent of something baking in the kitchen.

It was immediately evident to Tammy where they were going. John's room.
She had read enough Beatle books in her day to remember that he had the
room at the top of the stairs. "Oh wow," she thought as they entered
the fairly cramped room. "How many times have I dreamed of being alone
in John Lennon's bedroom."

The room was sparsely decorated, with a twin bed and a writing desk
which sat in the corner. Tammy let out a giggle when she saw the banjo
which was propped up against what appeared to be the closet door. "Is
that..." she asks inquisitively as she points at it.

"That's the banjo Julia first taught me to play," he says with a smile
and picks it up. He strums a quick little ditty then props it back up
against the door. "Julia was a wonderful woman, I just wish I could
have gotten to know her a little better. Not having a mum around really
messes up a child."

"Well, since my time is very limited, I guess I should tell you why I'm
here. Why I chose you to come to."

"I knew that you had a special gift...that you could see me. I just
wanted to talk to someone about my life, and I knew it had to be you."
John says with a thoughtful look on his face, then pauses for a long
moment. The room grows very quiet, and a sad look sweeps across his
face.

"John, whatever it is, you can tell me. I'm truly honored that you would
tell me anything; but I must say, I still think I'm going insane," at
this, John starts to laugh then grows somber once again.

"You know, everyday I see fans idolizing me in some way, and it disturbs
me terribly. When I was alive, I had a lot of problems. I was a right
bastard to Cynthia. Can you believe I beat such a lovely bird as her?
She tried hard to be a good wife," he says and kicks his foot in anger.
"And Julian! How terrible did I treat him? As I was growing up, I
always said one day I would have a son. I wanted to be a better father
to him than Fred was to me. But look what I did? I was worse than Fred.
My precious Beatlemania was more important to me than my own son."

"I know it's no excuse, but you were a young kid when that happened. You
were in your early twenties and didn't know how to act. What young man
would know how to behave when all of the money and young girls in the
world are suddenly thrust into his face? You finally did realize how
badly you acted towards Julian, and tried very hard to fix that. You
had a good relationship with him prior to your death. Granted, it was
too late for Cynthia, but you tried hard to make amends with your son."
Tammy says in an attempt to cheer him up. All that she accomplished was
a haunted look from his tear soaked eyes.

"I just wish I had my life back. If I could do it all over again, I
would be so much better. The worst thing of all is, all of my fans hold
me on such a gigantic pedestal. I was a man you know. I made mistakes
like everyone else. But yet, they treat me like a god. Cyn, Julian and
everyone else I was mean to saw the real me." He pauses for a moment in
contemplation, then begins again.

"I know my son hates me. I was such a bastard to Julian. He didn't ask
to be brought into this world, yet he was. All he ever wanted from me
was for me to be his daddy, but I failed at that. I feel so badly about
that...I just wish I could tell him that I'm sorry."

There is an uncomfortable silence in the room, the he shakes his head
and says, "I think the thing that hurts the worst was I was not there
to see Sean grow up; he was robbed of his childhood. And this all
happened just as I was forming a decent relationship with Julian. He
lost me twice."

"I'm so sorry for how I treated Cynthia also. I should have just told
her that I had feelings for Yoko, instead of stringing her along. And
the beatings," he lets out a heavy sigh," that should have never
happened. She didn't deserve that."

"I just hope no one thinks less of me as a person because of my
mistakes. I'm a normal man just like everyone else. I'm not a guru or a
god, I'm a man."

Not knowing what else to do, Tammy reaches her hand out and links her
arm around his. "Your imperfections are what made you my hero, John.
You were a flawed man, but you wanted better things. You tried to make
amends with your son. Julian could actually call you up and talk to
you! Hell, he could come over and be with his father for the first time
in years. You and Cynthia were also on ok terms. And you were very
active in trying for world peace. You put a lot of effort into the
things you believed in. The fact that you were flawed just made you
more human."

At this, he turns his head toward her and lets out a sob. "Thank you so
much, that means a lot to me. I just wish I could tell Cynthia, Julian,
Sean, and my mates the Threetles everything I've told you." The mention
of the name 'Threetles' causes him to let out a little giggle.

"Well, tell you the truth, I'd write them and tell them what you said,
but I don't think they'd believe me."

"Heh, you're probably right. Paul was always a skeptic. But anyway, we
better get going, we're going to be late," he says and gets up from the
bed. As he walks towards the door, a feather falls from his hat onto
the floor. She bends over to retrieve it for him, and when she stands
back up, he is gone.

"Whoa, he walks fast. He's probably going to the bus, I'll meet him out
there." When she gets to the bus, he's no where to be found.
Exasperated, Tammy sits back down into her seat and leans her head
against the window with a sigh.

"Tammy Lorene! Wake your butt up, you're going to miss it!"

Shocked, Tammy opens her eyes and sees Christine walking off of the bus.
"Where are we?" "Mimi's house," Christine yells and walks inside.
"Damn, I guess it was a dream," she says, then notices that she's still
holding the feather from his hat.

When they enter John's room, everything is as Tammy dreamed it, with one
addition. There are two indentions on the bed where someone has been
sitting. "I won't forget John. You'll always be a hero to me," she
whispers then turns to Christine.

"Boy do I have something to tell you!"
