Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story towards the coast. Once at the seaside she found a cheap B&B. It was a bit rough, but it was better than dossing underneath the arches. Ellie had a great time at the seaside. She found lots of places to discover - then, on her way back to the B&B she saw a sign - vacancies, outside a cafe. She had nothing to lose. ‘I've come about the vacancy,' she said to the lady in the cafe. The lady asked her a lot of questions and Ellie told her a lot of lies, But the lady was so impressed that she gave her a job and there just happened to be a flat on top of the shop that she could have to live in. It was something like out of a fairytale for Ellie. She went back to the B&B. She was full of excitement. She packed her stuff, paid the landlady and off she went. The next morning Ellie got out of bed and was really looking forward to her new job. After having a shower, which was a luxury to her after having to live under the arches, she made her way down to the cafe to start her job. When her lunch break came, she took some sandwiches and walked down by the pier and found a bench to sit on. But while eating her lunch, she heard: ‘Hello, Ellie.' Ellie panicked. Who knew she was here? Surely it couldn't be Emma? But then, when she turned around, a look of shock came to Ellie's face. ‘Hello, Ellie. How are you? You look well. I like that dress you are wearing.' ‘Oh, mum,' she said just before throwing herself in her mum's arms. I've been living rough on the streets. I came here and I just happened to find a job, and a flat that goes with it. Come and see,' she said to her, grabbing hold of her arm, before leading her towards the cafe. Once inside the flat, they had a good talk. Ellie was surprised to discover that her mum's boyfriend had left her. He'd run off with the local barmaid. Just before her mum was ready to leave, she turned to Ellie and said: ‘Ellie, please come home. I've missed you so much.' ‘I'll think about it mum, I promise you I will.' All that night Ellie couldn't sleep. She so much wanted to go home. She missed her mates. Everything was fine until He came along. Why did her mum bother with him? He was horrible. He never stopped drinking. He saw more of the barmaid in the pub than he did her mum. No wonder he finished up running off with her. The next Morning Ellie got up. She had made up her mind up - she was going home, but she had something to do first. Ellie packed, then left the seaside town and made her way back to the railway arches, and when she got there she found what she wanted, then made her way. ‘Hello,' she said when the elderly man answered the door. ‘What can I do for you? He asked. ‘I found your wallet. Here it is,' she said to him, handing it over.' ‘It's empty,' he said to her once after he had looked inside it.' ‘I know,' Ellie replied. ‘I spent most of the money and sold the credit cards to a drug dealer. But here is what's left of the money,' she added before putting it into his hand. ‘I've cancelled the cards, so I'm not worried about that.' ‘Good,' she replied. ‘You can call the police if you want?' ‘Come inside,' he said to her. Once inside she told him the whole story. And he told her that he had forgiven her for her actions and said she was free to leave, to make her way home. He wasn't going to call the police. Ellie was so grateful as she made her way. ‘Oh, mum, I've missed you so much,' she said when she was back inside the house. ‘I've missed you too, love,' she said before going into the kitchen to put the kettle on. Ellie jumped on the sofa, got the remote, switched the telly on, and then thought, there is no place like home! Follow me on my website - kenmakepeace.com Tweet
