Just before leaving the pub, he asked her what she was doing at the
weekend, and if she fancied meeting up in town. She didn't need asking
twice, but before they left the pub, Sandy managed to get Jeanie on her
own.

全o, where did you get him from?' Sandy asked.

選 fell over rushing for a job interview and he came to my aid.'

船id you get the job?'

選 dunno yet. I phoned them up and rearranged my appointment to
Thursday.'

When Jeanie got home, she couldn't stop thinking about Darren. If she
hadn't of tripped over and missed the interview, she would never have
met him. She had to put that one down to fate. What else could it be?
Boy, she could hardly wait till the weekend.

The Saturday came and Jeanie felt so excited as she made her way to the
bus stop. This time she was wearing comfortable shoes, well she didn't
want to go falling flat on her face again, did, she?

Jeanie got into town and waited. She seemed to wait ages. She thought
she was being stood up. Wasn't she the one who was supposed to be doing
that?

But just as she was going to walk away, she saw him turning the corner.

選 nearly gave up on you,' she said, not looking too pleased.

選t's not me, it's that blasted place I work at.'

糎hat is it you actually do there?'

前h, I just help out in the office.'

But for some reason Jeanie didn't believe him. He looked to
well-dressed, like he was a boss or something, and the car he drove was
a brand-new BMW with a personalized registration plate. Seemed a lot
for someone who just helped in an office. If she didn't know better,
she'd swear that he owned the place where he worked.

They had a great afternoon in town, going around all the posh shops,
then stopping at a pub for lunch. She just didn't want the day to end.

選've had a lovely time,' she said to him after he had dropped her off
outside her house. They had already swapped mobile numbers.

When the Thursday arrived, Jeanie got ready for her interview. She felt
nervous making her way to the factory. This time, after getting off the
bus, she took the long way round to the factory entrance. She wasn't
going to take any short cuts along the canal, not after what had
happened last time.

When she got inside the factory; she made her way up to the reception
desk. The girl on the desk told her to take a seat.

while waiting for her interview, Jeanie was picturing this grumpy old
man sitting behind his desk, looking at is watch and taking little
notice to what she was saying.

Finally, Carrie was told by the girl to go to the office, knock on the
door and walk in.

When Carrie entered, she saw a man sitting at a desk, but he was far
from old and grumpy.

舛ome for your interview, have you?' he said to her.

She got the job and another date with the person who interviewed her. It
just happened to be Darren. The grumpy old man she had heard about was
his uncle, who had passed away a few weeks' back, and the factory had
been handed down to Darren. How lucky could a girl get, especially
after the heel on her shoe broke and she ended up falling to the
ground.
