Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story “What that means?” “That means Baba knows that I have a bad heart and he will take care of it,” the professor looked lost. Juggernaut felt very bad for the professor he admires so much for his kindness and fellowship. The professor looks so different from decades ago when he returned from America after spending few years as a visiting professor at an Ivy League University. On returning home, he has everything; an illustrious career, a nice home and family. After retiring, his life went downhill. He moved to the richest Hindu ashram in the state known for providing free education at its college and free medical care at its clinic. Baba, the head of the ashram was known for performing miracles on his devotees to cure their medical problems. Few deserving devotees receive surgeries free of cost conducted by top class surgeon some visiting from America and Britain. The professor waited for years at the ashram teaching students and hoping one day he will be selected by the Baba to receive free surgery but that never happened. It was puzzling why the professor was not selected for a free surgery though he was a true devotee of Baba and teaching for over 8 years for free living in a dorm room. When his heart problem became serious, the professor eventually returned home from the Ashram hoping to get medical treatment only to be ignored at home. The professor passed away in his sleep after experiencing severe chest pains. The professor did not check himself into a hospital in time to remediate his heart problem. The professor placed too much faith in Baba, a vain attempt like trying to draw water from a dry well and he died needlessly. “But how this could happen to a highly educated smart person?” wondered Juggernaut looking at an old black and white photo of the professor in graduation robe when he was young holding post graduate diploma.
